Distribution

How to sign up?

To register for a pantry, please visit the pantry location closest to you on one of the dates listed or the Choose Your Own Pantry. You will be asked to fill out a short application form and upon completion will receive a personal pantry card with a barcode number. This card is what you’ll use to check in any time you pick up a food distribution.

NOTE: You do not need to bring any additional documents with you as the application process is self-reported.

How often can you visit a pantry?

You can visit a pantry once a month to receive your food distribution. This means that you can go to one of the mobile food pantry locations or visit the Choose Your Own Pantry.
Please try to stick with your chosen pantry for the quarter!

Need Additional Help?

Emergency Food Bag

If you have a one-time emergency or need additional food assistance and have already received your monthly food distribution, you can pick up an emergency food bag at The  Commons. This bag does not contain as much food as a regular food box, but can help supplement until the next distribution.

Snack Bags

The Commons gives out “snack bags” with ready-to-eat foods to unhoused individuals in Grant County who don’t have access to a way to cook food.

Choose Your Own

The Choose Your Own pantry is located in Silver City and is structured like a “grocery store” that allows community members to select the foods that are relevant to their lifestyle, dietary needs, and cultural preferences, while providing more dignity and a social activity to engage in community. This pantry can take place of any of the mobile drive-thru pantries and is open to ALL of Grant County! Just like the other pantries, you can only receive a distribution from the Choose Your Own pantry once a month.

ALIMENTO

The Alimento School Food Partnership Program is a food security initiative in collaboration with schools in the Cobre and Silver School districts. The program aims to ensure that students and their families have access to healthy, nutritious food through a variety of support systems.

Each of the 13 school partnerships we serve have a custom-designed program that best serves the needs of their students. This custom approach utilizes a mix of services including weekend “backpacks”, family food boxes, in-school food pantries, classroom snack boxes, and school farm stands. Ask your school about what Alimento services they have!

Volunteer Opportunity

If you are interested in helping with this program, we have a volunteer opportunity you can participate in! Every Wednesday, volunteers pack food bags that get delivered to the schools. The program is currently paused for the summer, but will start back up again in the fall!

If you work for a school and have any questions about this program, please contact the Senior Programs Manager by emailing info@thecommonsgc.org.
